Here is a short list of interesting and fun things about me that not too many people know about. This page was a lot of fun for me to create and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Now, for the rest of my story.

Originally I’m from Russia…

I was born and raised in Sankt Petersburg, Russia. One day a friend of mine came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go to America with her, and I said sure.

Sounded like a good idea to go and have some fun and party. So with only $150 dollars in my pocket I headed to America on a student visa to be a camp counselor for two months.

At the time I realized I did not speak any English, but I didn’t think that would be a problem as I didn’t plan on staying beyond the two months.

I learned how to speak English from the small children at the Big Bear Summer Camp in LA.

After the two months I got a job working in a restaurant and met my husband, we were together for twelve years and I was definitely staying in America.

My creative side has always called to me

Even though I grew up in a family where the adults believed that the technical side was a good career choice, my creative side kept calling to me.

My mother was a physics teacher, my father was a electromechanical engineer, my grandmother on my father’s side was an architect, building military boats and my grandma on my mother’s side was a math teacher.

I grew up under a lot of pressure to follow in their footsteps.

However, my heart kept leading me more to the arts and drawing.

I loved being creative and still do to this day.

I’m a teacher at heart

I have a teaching degree in physics and a undergraduate degree in children’s psychology that I got from the university in Russia.

After I finished college I headed to America for a new adventure.

I love to sew

One of my other passions is sewing and creating new dresses and Halloween costumes. I have my own sewing room stocked with two sewing machines, patterns, materials and thread — everything to create my next unique creation.

The Holidays

I celebrate New Year’s as the biggest holiday of the year. When I was growing up it was our family tradition to observe January 1st as our Christmas. We would exchange gifts on December 31st, New Year’s Eve. Christmas tree when translated in Russian means New Year Tree.

Mountain biking is the best in Colorado

After moving to Colorado I took up mountain biking and go riding at least twice a week in the summer. Lately I acquired a snow bike and started riding on the snow. I’ve been riding for over five years now and I love it.

Here’s why I love mountain bike riding…

When I’m on my bike riding I can really connect with mother nature and the profound beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Biking is a matter of empowerment for me. I feel young, eternal and invincible.

I connect with the energy of the universe when I’m riding.

Riding is total freedom and clears my mind.

It’s total awesomeness!

Hello Kitty

I’m obsessed with Hello Kitty, my desk looks like a Toys”R”Us store. Even my sticky notes are Hello Kitty notes. Hello Kitty was created 40 years ago to inspire friendship, happiness and sharing across the world. She first appeared on a coin purse in 1974, and has since become a global phenomenon and friend to millions.

Kitty White was born on November 1st in the suburbs of London, England. She is around 5 apples tall and weighs around 3 apples. Her favorite color, and mine, is red.

Getting Healthy

Time, lack of exercise and poor eating habits finally caught up with me. I was over weight and tired of looking and feeling like I did. I made a decision to get healthy. I found a program that made sense to me and felt right. It was a Naturally Slim Program provided by my employer at the time.

I learned how to eat right and eat healthy. I also cut out sugar from my diet. I lost 50 pounds and went from a size 10 to 0.

My daughter is 15 and a varsity cheerleader. She brings much joy and happiness to my life every single day.

I love her with all my heart and look forward to watching her grow up as a wonderful young woman.

I love to cook

Cooking has always been a pleasure for me. Once I started to learn how to cook, it didn’t take me long to realize, if you put your heart and soul into anything it always turns out well. I love preparing good tasting food for my family and friends.

Just for the record, I’m a great cook but I would prefer having someone else do the dishes.

I don’t believe you can be a great cook and like to clean up too… that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
